The has started rising again on the Ross ice-shelf and just a week later, our stations are back to life. During only a couple of minutes per day, they have been signaling that they have made it through the winter.
At -28 degrees it is not really warm, but the voltage and time tells us that batteries have survived, as well as the electronics. We are now excitedly waiting for the first data to be sent home. The chances are increasing day by day.
